Brick Johnson - 10/27/22 to 04/09/06
This memorial website was created in the memory of our dearly beloved father,
Robert "Brick" M Johnson who was born in Goodrich, Wisconsin on October 27,
1922 to Martin and Anna (Olson) Johnson and passed away on April 9, 2006 at the
age of 83. His kindness and warm heart will be remembered forever.
Born the fourth of seven children (Phyllis, Ray, Jack, twins Jim and Tom,
Dick), Brick was a fighter from the start. When he was one and a half years
old, he contracted diphtheria and spent over a year in Chicago after a
successful tracheotomy. During high school, he helped his pa in construction,
worked in the movie theatre (that pa built) and then entered the service during
World War II as a Staff Sergeant Company G 409th Infantry, serving extensively
overseas and earning medals of honor. Waiting back home was his sweetheart,
Ruth Franz, and after marrying in 1946, they headed to California where Brick
worked in construction. They headed back to Wisconsin in 1948 where he found a
job at A.O. Smith for 35 years, ending as a supervisor.
Brick set an example for all of us to follow. He had a tolerant, tender heart
and was a man who valued honesty and keeping his promises. This site is
intended to be a place for Brick's vast network of family and friends to share
stories, poems, videos or photos of him. In order to pay tribute, please click

last several years at home under the loving care of his wife and children.
Survived by wife Ruth; son Robert ,his wife Beverly and their children Hannah
and Ben; daughter Karen, her husband Bill Grzanna, their children Jason and
Jess (great-granddaughter Lexi); daughter Janice, her husband Robert Schulteis,

Brick was a hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, and continued the
pleasure indoors by reading westerns and sportsmen magazines. In later years,
he enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas, and always came home with lighter
pockets, but kept his smile. His woodworking projects are displayed proudly in
all of our homes. Everything he touched he left better than before he came
along. His gentle, caring nature to all he encountered was his gift to the
world. Brick always lent his helping hands to anyone in need. Although his time
with us seemed too short, the love he spread to everyone will last 100
lifetimes.
We love you Brick, Your Family
